Ultram instead of Methadone - Addiction & Recovery Message Board

I have read all the discussions on the different experiences with Ultram and withdraw, but I have a question about trading the two. When Im out of tabs I take the ultram, sometimes I start my day with ultram even when I have tabs. I don't feel a buzz, I don't feel anything except for normal. I don't feel heavy or confused like when im on the tabs.

So why can't I use this as a maintenance drug... like similar to methadone? Is there something harmfull in them? I do get a little sick to my stomach when I take them and I take 2 or 3 ... 3X a day.

I was just thinking, since I cant seem to quit without a relaps and im 2 hrs from both a methadone or bup docter maybe this is my anwser.

Hello. I'm brand new to this board, in fact this is my first post & I just stumbled across the place today. I've been on methadone for almost 7 months now. Before getting on the Methadone I had a real bad oxycontin/heroin/whatever opiate you could give me addiction. If I am understanding you correctly than you are wondering if Ultram can take the place of methadone. Hun, Ultram ain't sh*t! The only reason that ultram gets you by on the days you don't take Methadone is because Methadone is long acting. Your body will think it is just fine without taking any more methadone for up to 72 hours. But like clock work!! When that 72nd hour strikes you know it! And it ain't no fun. Ultram will not do a thing for withdrawel! Believe me if it could, I woulda never bothered with methadone, in fact none of us would! Sorry. Good luck to you though.

oh lord...lets not get all sides going on this again. Just give your advice...we have had many go arounds...heated... about Ultram. If Ultram will get you to get clean...then have at it, others ultram has been very addictive and caused major w/d.

Ya know,
I was just wondering...
Not about the addictive potential,
not about weather or not it helps with withdraws, but could I use it instead of a methodone clinic or bup.
But God forbid, I bring up an uncomfortable thread. I will do my own research, and figure it out on my own.
