Hello everyone.
I posted before but I cannot find the post anymore.
I have taken more lortab today than i ever have. about 12. I hate it. I have less and less will power all of the time.
I am still buying the stuff off of the internet for whenever I run out of my rx from the dr. he prescribes 40 5.500, i am supposed to take 4 a day and they are supposed to last me 10 days. HA. that never happens.
My son found my last post and confronted me about it.He is 16.
I admitted to it, but I reassured him that it is okay...that I am not taking that many, and i will stop, blah blah blah.
A few weekends ago I was out completely so I took about a half a bottle of tussonex in one day, and the next day i was really sick.
I have stolen seveal hydros. from my mother in law. I am sure that she knows it was me.......
I guess I am trying to say, that this problem is getting WORSE instead of better.
I am scared, but apparently not scared enough yet to stop. I hope that nobody criticises me........I am just here to vent!!!!!! And of course get other peoples stories and opinions and suggestions.
thank you
Julie

Julie, so you have to make a decision, stop or continue. You have to make this decision soon, while you're still at a point where it will be easy to detox. 12 5 mg per day is only 60 mg per day, not to bad in the scheme of things. There are many that are 6 times worse off, that would be a mountain you do not want to climb. Not sure what else to say other then you are in a no return path, or you can take control and get back your life you temp left. Trust me, life without drugs is much much nicer.

wow it just blows me away when I read on here the amount of meds. that people take...Like you said, 6 times the amount that I am taking...How can people do that without getting really sick the next day? Where do people get these drugs, and how can they afford it??
I am struggling and feeling so guilty about taking up to 12 a day.!!!!
It really helps me to read these posts and I am really impressed with the people on here.
Very smart, strong people. People with drug abuse problems, that unlike me, are actually doing something about it. WOW!!

Blue, the reason people can take 6 or 10 times the amount you’re taking is called tolerance. Over time you constantly chase this high and you take great amounts of meds as your body becomes tolerant to the meds. So you get into this no win vicious cycle. You are fast closing in on this same cycle and like most of us you will not realize it when you cross this line but once you cross it, it becomes so very difficult to get off the drugs once you're at this point. I was very much like you before I crossed the line, taking 10 or 15 mgs a day on the weekend for the high. That changed practically without me knowing it.

What scares me Blue is you seem to be a very intelligent and rational person who has read the stories here and understands much of the nastiness that is associated with drug abuse. You seem to know what is the right thing to do, but I don’t see where you are making that conscious decision to stop taking the pills and live life naturally and drug free. I fear, and I have said this to others, 6 months from now. Or maybe sooner, you will be back here asking for our help and you will have that 20-30 per day consumption. Getting off that horse is very unpleasant. You can taper, go cold turkey or take Subonoxe or methadone to help get off the drugs, but you really do not want to take that on when you taking that much medication.

OK, I’m off my soap box but geez please make a positive decision soon, for you, and your children or child.

Phil-

Felt like that last reply was to me. I've been lucky so far. The addiction has been my private hell. Life gets to go on. My wife and son love me and support me. I just have this huge ego that allows me to believe I am in control.

It's been since late August that I realized life is better without the pills. Of course, I am happy to forget that when I think I can successfully use them. I can't. I joined this group last month during a brief abstinence and disappeared after my MD re-scripted me. 3 weeks later, I am out of meds and realizing that I haven't been enjoying this last go round. I've spent the last week tapering and am not feeling it yet. I know the right thing to do. My son is 13 and brilliant. It won't be long until he figures me out (if he hasn't yet). I need your prayers and your good words, not to get through the w/d. I know I can face that, but to get to being clean and sober, not abstinent. God has been good to me. My bottoms have been shallow, but I don't learn. I am sure He is getting impatient with me...
