LAst night me and my husband got in a huge fight because when my doctors prescribes me pain killers for my severe fibro, and I leave them out in the open they dissapear, I mean about 5 at a time. I just got a script last week, and have 3 our of 75 left, and Trust me i didn't take them all. We have friends over all the time, and he says he didn't take them but where did they go??. When I ask him he gets mad and angry and tells me im a junky because I hide them, I hide them because Im in pain and need them to function (not addiction, just in chronic pain daily) What can I do last night I told him im getting another script this week because the current pills aren't working and only covering about 50% of the pain, so the doc is gonna change it. My husband said if I don't give him some he is not talking to me, and will not talk to me today. Why is he doing this, anyone else ever have this happeh??

If you didn't believe he was taking them, why would you have to hide them? I am not trying to be rude but there seems to be a problem here with recreational use of your pain meds. I think you already know the answer to your questions. What kind of husband would get angry if you don't give him your prescribed medication for a painful conditon !? Do some soul searching and then do the right thing- for you and your husband

Hi - sounds like your hubby has taken a liking to your pills...at this point, he may be getting angry about it becuase he NEEDS them so he doesn't get sick, which would mean he is addicted. Hopefully that isn't the case, but if he were just using them recreationaly and could take them or leave them, my bet is he wouldn't be so adamant about having them.

I would come right out and ask him and then enourage him to get some help. Perhaps you can give him a few to get by and then he is on his own?

Whatever you decide to do, good luck. In my opinion, he has a serious problem.

my husband started out the same way. every time i had dental surgery (periodontic work), i was prescribed hydrocodone, he was like a kid in a candy store! i would have a script for maybe 12 pills to cover 7 days and by day 2 all but 2 or 3 were gone. needless to say, he is a oxy addict now and is struggling with recovery. i didn't used to think anything of his taking my pills cause heck, they didn't do anything for me except make me sleep and take away the pain from surgery. i would venture to say that yours is definately abusing them if not addicted. best thing to do, IMO, is tell him you'll support him in quitting and at the same time set boundaries for yourself as to what you will tolerate (easier said than done, esp sticking to them). good luck!
