Post To the lurkers, one time posters, vetrans, ect.

Hi to all,

Seems to me like this place works best when people are able to share stories, offer opinions. I sat on the side lines for a long time before I decided to post & even just reading the stories here gave me a lot of comfort and knowledge. (aka lurking)

It would be great if we could hear from some folks that for whatever reason, have not posted, (aka lurkers) or have not posted in a while.(aka veterans, one timers) Please consider this an invitation to post.

You don’t need to write a novel, just a few lines to let us know that you are out there, and that maybe somehow that you are befitting from what you are reading. I would just like to know if there are more people here than just those who are posting regularly. (No offense to the regulars)

So please take a moment to post, and offer as much, or as little as you want.

And No, This does not make me the self-appointed welcoming committee.

Best wishes,
Rudder

I am a fellow "lurker". I have to say without this board, I don't think that I would be where I am today.
I just detoxed my body cold turkey for 49 hours, off of a 9 to 12 a day seven month 10/mg 325 hydro habit. It was so time, I found myself making bad choices and generally becoming unhappy with the fact the I was depending on these pills to get out of the bed in the morning and run the house. I am now down to 3 a day.
Holding steady at day three and I look forward to ridding myself of it all. I used this board to look up information that helped me cold turkey, and the feeling of relief of seeing others come together and share their stories has been a God send. Those 49 hours were the worst 49 hours of my life, how sick I was, I was able to sit down and read here what I could do to make myself feel better...hot baths...exercise, vitamins, and sleep aids. Through this board I have slowly come to the conclusion that I have an addictive personality and I cannot take ANY agent that may be habit forming without a life/death situation. It may sound dramatic, but I look over the posts of those who started at my pill habit and what they ended at and I am glad to say that their posts have helped me make the decision to rid my body of this drug and watch my daily decisions. It won't be long now, and thank you all for your help, your honesty and your passion to get well.
For those who are going cold turkey, my best advice...
Take it ONE MINUTE AT A TIME.
Good luck and thanks!

Star-

Welcome to the board. That’s a great story of success, and you should be proud that of the strength that it took to do a 49hr C/T. Very Cool! Congratulations!

You sound very determined to see it through to zero pills. Stay on track and focused so that you don’t let all the hard work slip away. Stay at 3 tabs until you’re ready to go down from there. Maybe Philster, or someone can chime in on Tapering & C/T with some advise, but I think that if you got this far, you can probably go full C/T from here. Just don’t let those little pills tell you it's OK to take "just one more", because you know they will try to.

Keep us posted on your progress & ask questions. The people here are very knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to help, so please use this resource as part of your recovery. It helps you, as well as us.

Thanks again & Welcome
Rudder

Hi Star-

Welcome. It does get better each day, doesn't it? The body heals first, then the mind, which takes us much longer. I wish us both strength.
