Hello Everyone,
I'm hoping that I can get some help. I've been taking Hydro 10/325's for about 7 months now, usually anywhere from 8-14 a day. I've decided to go CT starting a week from tonight. I'm going to taper down starting tomorrow, I'm going to take 5 a day. I've thought a lot about going into rehab, about tapering for a longer period of time, but I don't feel I have the strength to do either one. Actually, rehab would probably be easier, but I feel deep inside me that this is the best method for me.
I have been reading several posts here about various medications and methods to take in order to make this process as easy as it can be (which I know it won't be, right?). I was in rehab this past May, and still have some leftover medication that they gave me when I got out, here it is:
I have: 15 Klonopin tablets, 10 Neurontin 300mg tablets, 12 Trazodone 50mg tablets, and several Valium tablets.
I'm not sure what I could use each of these for, if anything. I'm also not sure what else I need to "stock-up" on for next weekend. All I do know is that I'm scared, really scared. I'm going away this weekend, and will be back on Monday. Then working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not sure if I should stop on Wednesday PM, and try to get through Thursday at work (I'm going to take Friday off from work). I really could use some advice, thanks.
Rob
P.S. I'm going to keep checking this board all week for support, and then all next weekend, if I can make it to the computer.
DO NOT go to rehab, that is a revolving door, All they want is your insurance money, and then all they can get out of you, you will not get a taper treatment you think you will, let you suffer for 72 hours, and then you'll tell the doctor anything to get out, They are great if your rich and have an extra 10,000.00 to 50,000.00 to blow. I went in Feb 2000, Lost almost every freind, my wife , my house. and racked up just at 20,000.00 usd.
Find a doctor on http://buprenorphine.samhsa.gov/bwns_locator/index.html
and go on Subutex or Suboxone, then you can taper easier
Worst case go to a Methdone Clinic http://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/facilitylocatordoc.htm

Rob, don't be too frightened, it's not pleasant going through CT but most of us survive and it sure plants the seed of never wanting to go through that again in our brains, at least it did for me. The more you can taper down the better off you will be when you finally CT. I can tell you from personal experience that you’re going to feel not so good for maybe 1-7 days with days 2-5 being the worst. I would recommend using a Dr to help with your CT, get the meds prescribed by the Dr. Now if that is not an option then use the meds you have or have acquired from information you have read here. The Valium and Klonopin are benzo's and if taken at max dose should knock you out for much of the time you are in CT. I would work with the Dr though to determine what dosage is best for you. I would not mix these if it was me I'd decide on one or the other and when I CT'd I took Valium because it has a long half life which helps. What strength are the Valium and Klonopin pills? Max daily dose for Valium is 40mg and for Klonopin it's 20mg. I used valium when I went CT and took 10mg every 6hrs, had my wife give them tome. She would wake me up, tell me to take the pill and swallow the pill haha then back to sleep for me. I only took the Valium for 3 days as I did not want any overhead from discontinuing these down the road. So if you have some help that would be great during your CT. If you could get your hands on some Clonidine or a Catapres patch (clonidine) then that would help with the skin crawling hot/cold flashes. I was always so cold, could not get warm, took showers, hair dryer under my shirt, fire place, it was pathetic. The Trazodone is an antidepressant, not sure it would help but a Dr would know best but if a Dr is not an option and it was me I would not use them. Trazodone is recommended NOT to be used with alcohol as an FYI. Neurontin is a Anti-convulsant, same thoughts as the Trazodone. I would drink lots of fluids, force yourself to eat and exercise, walking is great. I walked around my neighborhood constantly. Good luck and if you have questions fire away and we here will try and help you out. You’re going to be fine, you’re stronger then you think and focus on your ultimate goal, visualize your goal, Take care we are ALL pulling for you Rob.

Robrozzie . . . if you think rehab is best for you than by all means do it! I disagree that it's a "revolving door" and only there to take insurance money. Maybe some, but not the ones I'm familiar with. I'm quite sure my husband would be dead without the rehab facility in Mississippi that he spent 72 days in. Good luck to you and only you can decide which path or recovery is best for you!
I'm with Hope on this one, and say do not rule out rehab. If you don't have the tools to deal with with the addiction once you are clean. they will help you learn them.
You could also consider using a detox center where they will just help you get through the W/D's in a matter of a few days, and help you get set-up with some after-care. Many of these will also help you get on a med. (suboxone/meth.)and use that med for the detox.
If you don't think that you can go it alone and have success, then consider a detox and/or a rehab center.
If your are going to taper or C/T please pay careful attention to what Philster has to say. Few know as much about this process as Philster does.
Best if Luck to you.
