hopefully i didnt set myself back too much

hi... wonder sometimes how a stranger can care more than people i actually know...thanx it means alot, anywayim doing ok, had a little slip up, i felt my self slipping BIT YESTERDAY, guess a moment of weakness, im not gonna lie, i am ashamed of myself a bit, but i bought 6 roxicet 5 mgs, yesterday off a friend, i took 2 at noon, took 1 at 8pm, got some rest, today i got up around 9am, felt ok, did a few things around the house i had been neglecting, i then took 1 at 1030am...i know this might set me back a little bit, but im just trying to take off some of the edge..the way im looking at it right now is, hey 2 months ago i was taking 3-80 mgs pills of oxycontin a day, that is 240 mgs...today ive taken 1 roxicet 5mg...call me a cheater, but im trying hopefully by saturday i can say i aint taking nothing at all!

I've been following your progress and you've been doing SO well. Please don't worry about the slip-up--just keep on going. There's an old Broadway show tune, where the lyrics to one of the songs goes "for every two steps backwards, I'll take three steps forward!" That's kinda describes getting off pills!! So...congrats on your taper (you're doing better than I am!) No guilt!! :-)

Re: hopefully i didnt set myself back too much

Gambino,

At this point, what's done is done. But you need to make sure that you don't justify your slip by saying, "look how much progress I've made, it's OK". It's a slip, relapse is part of recovery, but it's not OK. I too have been following your progress. Must have been something in the air yesterday. I was so close to gulping hydros you can't believe it! I know ( and I'm sure you know) what to do. It's doing it. Meetings are going to be important for me. You may want to consider the same. Don't beat yourself up over the slip. It wont set you back too much. You will not have to start over. You are still on track to being clean! Stay the course. Admitting your slip on this board is a huge step. I'm wishing you the best. Please keep us posted as there are many (including myself) in your same boat.

Gambino-
Don't beat yourself up..i know what your doing..taking a rest..we used to say..oh-how many times i have done that..3 day threshold..and then id do a little and then keep going..not good..but try not to succumb and if you see yourself getting back into it-let us know..we'll try to help..
The best thing is being honest-w/ yourself..you know whats up..
But we've all done it..i know you can do this-but doing this on your own esp. oxys-very difficult..like heroin.
Is there any out-patient detox facilitys near you-that might give you the x-tra support you need.
take care gambino-and keep up the good work..

gambino dont dwell on slipping up i look at as a moment of weakness which we all have there are so many times ive been tempted to call my doc and just say put me back on methadone this is one of the hardest things ive ever had to deal with so i completely understand i look at addicts in a whole different light now i feel so bad with what they have to go through everyday when the withdrawals are over i thought ok this is it i did it wrong this is forever just take it one day at a time which we have all heard before please just hang in there my thoughts are with you i hope my words wernt to korny but i just feel for you peace and hang in there kelleigh
