Dreams after I quit drinking. - Addiction & Recovery Message Board

I gave up the use of alchohol five and a half years ago. I had these recurring dreams in which I would be drinking a beer - I'd be someplace drinking something and then realize it was a glass of beer!.

Some recovering alchoholics have told me this is not uncommon. Anyone else have or had the the same experience?

hey thunderbolt!
oh yeah....i'm usually at a bar and at the end i'm at home cooking and drinking wine. old patterns i guess stick around for a while. as a matter of a fact i had a drinkin' dream about a month ago. when i woke up, i was kinda freaked out but then relieved---whew! i'm not hungover! everyone i have talked to says they had them too.

Yes,I too have had dreams about drinking.They are certaintly not uncommon.

My cousin who is 1 year sober from serious alcohol abuse-has these dreams quite a bit.
I still on occassion have 'drug dreams'-and i haven't used in close to a year..very normal..so ive been told.
They are freaky tho-sometimes i wake up and feel like i really did something..but i didn't.Kinda scary..reminds you not to forget..where you were..and where you are going..hopefully staying off your drug/alcohol..
