My doctor just prescribed my subutex and I will start taking it this weekend. I have been on painkillers (lorecet 10mg) for the past three months. I average about 30 mg a day. He said I can't take the subutex until 30 hours after my last dose of locrecet. I am getting very nervous about this and wanted to know if anyone can tell me how i can expect to feel and how long does it take for the subutex to work. I know that everyone is different but maybe if i can get a general idea at least i can feel a little better about starting the detox. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Did you say 30 mgs of lorcet? And they are putting you on Subutex? Why? How long are you going to take it? Are you an addict or are you just physically dependent on the lorcet? Surely you meant 30 tablets a day? Can you clarify? I would NOT take Subutex if you've only been taking 30 mgs of lorcet per day. You will be really, really messing w/a very strong opiate for a very small amount of medication that you are taking. Also, every other post I've seen says that you should be in early withdrawals when you start so it depends on what you are taking. If you were addicted to Oxycontin for example, that stays in your system longer so you would have to wait about 2 or 3 days before starting it... However, I was taking lortabs and I started Suboxone (which is different from Subutex just by a little) about 8 hours after my last dose and did fine. Can you clarify for me how much you were taking before I continue to write more about what you should expect? Thanks so much!
Banker - I am taking 30mg not 30 pills. I take anywhere from 3 to five pills a day. I have been on these pills for over three months but can't seem to stop cold turkey. So he prescribed me five,8 mg of subutex (40 mg total) to take in one day. He said after 7 days I should be ok. Please respond
Take it from someone who used a very low dose of sub for a short period of time- don't do that!!!!!! Sub is alot more difficult to come off of than just 3-5 tablets of Lorcet. Taper down from the Lorcet and except to have a couple, maybe three or four at the most, days of uncomfortableness and leave the subutex alone. Trust me!!!!!!!
I agree with Michelle. What kind of Doc is prescribing 40 mg of sub to take in one day? If you are on 30 mg of hydro and only on it for three months your withdrawal will be minimal. If you follow Doc's ordrers you'll be way worse off than at present. If you were taking 30 pills a day you wouldn't need 40 mg of sub to hold you!
