| Re: Getting off Sub
I was on a big hydro user 30+ a day. Went to a Sub doctor and went on that for a while. Was on a hydro binge for a while and went on a roller coaster of hydro and Sub. I finally decided I wanted off the Sub because it made my brain feel very odd. I can't intelligently explain it to you either, but I'm sure your husband can attest to it. I finally got off the sub, but it wasn't easy. I had to use 30 vicodins to taper off the Sub quickly. I wouldn't suggest that though because you have to be truly strong and not want more hydros. I was just basically so sick of it that I didn't want anymore after that. I was surprised at myself.
Taper..tell him to taper at the 36th hour. He needs to taper from 4 mg and drop a dosage every 4-5 days. For example, drop from 4 mg to 3 mg, 3 to 2mg, etc. He will have to break the tablets by a pill cutter. Even if the last days are chips off the Sub. Sub is a long acting opiate and he won't feel withdrawls until then. Which makes sense on why he is going back on it on the 3rd day. The withdrawls are a lot worse than hydro withdrawls. By tapering , he should be OK and it shouldn't be all that bad.
Ask Michelle also, John 3:16 about the Sub as well. Please read other threads about this. There is a lot of info already.
Don't get me wrong, the Sub can help people when needed. It certainly did help me when I needed it.
Take care and post if you need anything.
