When people are prescribed narcotics for pain-and use as directed for under 2-3 weeks-there are generally NO w/d's-maybe some mild sluggishness-but nothing intense.
Many experience no w/d at all-the stories you read here- are generally folks that became addicted by choice(getting high) or thru use due to medical issues-but were on opiates for an extended period of time.
You shouldn't have any real problems-but should talk to your dr. about your concerns-if you are worried.
If you find yourself taking more-or are trying to get high from them-thats when you know you may have a problem.
