Went one night without beer and tobacco and felt worse the next morning

OK so I have been drinking beer heavily for many years now and it is starting to give me diarrhea every day. The last week or so I have only had a few beers at night and then chewing tobacco. So last night I decided to not have any beer at all or tobacco. This morning I felt like I was going to throw up so bad. I felt way worse then when I have a hangover. I am starting a new job tomorrow and I wanted to make sure I was at the top of my game by not drinking this week but I went one day and it made my symptoms worse. I must be physically addicted. Any tips on making the symptoms not so bad. I am going to have to just have a couple drinks a night until I can figure out what to do. I can't go into my new job feeling like I am going to throw up. But then there is the diarrhea I have had a problem with for months now and have to take immodium every day just about now so I don't live on the toilet.

A doc would probably put you on Librium for a short while....that is if he doesn't recommend detox/rehab.

How does librium make a person feel? Would I be tired or feel spaced out? I am totally sober all day long I need to be for the type of work I do working with with numbers all day long. Then I go home and hit the booze. Would librium make me feel like I was medicated during the day?

Re: Went one night without beer and tobacco and felt worse the next morning

Probably would make you feel medicated at first. Librium wouldn't be a long-term thing. It would be used for your alcohol withdrawals. It would be used in the first few days only. It'll ease the shakes and the other booze withdrawals. You'll need to take some days off(about 5-7) and then get some help from a doc. Quitting any drug/booze is difficult and should be the main priority....that is, if you really want to quit.
