Hi Denise, First of all, good luck to you. I too hid it from my family for about 3 years. I have been clean for 22 days and I feel really good because my parents and family knows now. You will need a lot of support. That is why I suggest you go and get detoxed. I was only in detox for 3 days and now am going to outpatient therapy. I can honestly say that if I had not gone to detox, I would still be using. Sometimes we need that slap in the face to do it.

I too tried to taper down several times but an addict can not do that really successfully in my opinion. Especially without support from the family. I know it is hard to tell your family but you will be surprised how much better you will feel. Odds are they already have an idea. My parents confronted me several times about it and I lied every time. I took alot off of them too when I finally admitted it because they were so worried about me.
