God I'm kind of embarrased to ask about this, but unfortunately I dont know where else to put this post. Well anyway here goes. I am currently a senior in college. I have been binge drinking for about 3 years now. I never drink every night of the week, and even pass some weekends. It fluctuates though, sometimes I'll drink 3 times during the week, sometimes 2 times, like I said sometimes never. The reason why I'm posting this is because something I've noticed happening if I drink two nights in a row. The following day I'll wake up with the usual hangover, but with an odd symptom. Its hard to describe, but the best way I could describe it is a feeling that I haven't gotten the nutrients I need and that my body is desperate for them. Sort of like it needs them now or something bad will happen. Nothing I eat or drink will make this feeling go away (even vitamin pills), it just usually disapates on its own. Its kind of scary cause it seems to come with a weird feeling in my chest and kinda tunnel vision. I had a physical a couple months ago and am in great shape! I do suffer from slight anxiety and have had panic attacks in the past, and I know alcohol can contribute to these so I'm wondering if that might be it. This feeling also doesn't come after one night of drinking, it has too be at least two. Also, one other thing is that I never get a mental craving for alcohol when I get these feelings. When I asked my doctor he said it most likely anxiety or could be dehydration. Like I said I am in great shape, and my heart, and everything tests out fine (including my liver ) So I was just wondering if anyone else thinks this could be a mild form of withdrawal, or if anyone else has had it? Like I said, I get no mental craving for alcohol when it comes and from my understanding withdrawal has both a mental and physical component.
I believe it is dehydration ...like your doctor mentioned. It usually takes 24 hours to rehydrate properly. Alcohol steals all of the Vitamin B from your body. Take B12, and that should help. You are probably an alcoholic, but your body is being robbed of its nutrients when you drink.
The next day after binging two times, you body is just trying to realign itself from the deficiency it went through.

Thanks all
I know exactly what you are talking about. I was a binge drinker for years. Mostly weekends never during the week and would go up to a month without drinking at times. I know that feeling of needing nutrients well. Like there is something that your body is craving like nutrients but you can't put your finger on what would make you feel better. I would binge on fried chicken and that seemed to make me feel better sometimes. I don't know why. Unfortunately I ended up gaining alot of weight over the years until I quit.
The reason that you don't get a mental craving for alcohol when you are experiencing this feeling, and I speak from experience, is because the anxiety that you experience sort of acts as a form of "aversion therapy" to alcohol. Who wants to drink more when you are connecting a paticular unpleasent experience with a large alcohol consumption.
If you are experiencing this you may in fact be in good shape and you are young, but this experience will get worse as time goes on. I am not saying this to scare you either, again I am speaking from experience. You may want to cut down your alcohol consumption. Drinking two nights in a row too, you maybe getting a mild form of alcohol poisoning.
I binged for a long time and it started in college, take my word for it binge drinking is a waste of time and can and does bring trouble. Cut your drinking down if you can or quit. If I could go back I would have taken up something much more constructive and kept myself out of trouble which unavoidibly happens.
Just my opinion from experience. I hope this helps.

Hey cody,
I apologize for using your first name, but since you gave it in your response I figured it was O.K. Well I know 100% now that the symptoms I felt were dehydration. I got the same ones after drinking a pot (6 cups) of coffee. One thing my doctor suggested was not drink coffee and alcohol the same day, I did that, and haven't had the symptoms since. yeah, the feeling of not getting something what you want (nutrients wise anyway) I am familiar with totally and I know I'm not alone. Personally for me they are pretty freaky symptoms (I blame the anxiety here) and that's why I was concered enough to post on the boards here. But like I said I haven't had the symptoms since I stopped combining coffee and alcohol on the same day. ANyway thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.
