Hello Mommie,
I can so relate to your back pain as I've had two surgeries and am recoverying from related nerve damage. I can't imagine how hard it must be to drag yourself out of bed each day and go to work, feeling so lousy...I did that for awhile before I was healed enough and it was horrible.
Could there be any other ways to manage your pain, depending on what the cause is? Do you have any pain clinics that are close enough by that you could attend, or could your doctor recommend any other treatments or referrals to specialists? I can certainly understand your fear of becoming addicted to painkillers, but my experience when I was on them, was that the pain seemed to suck up all the benefit of the pills and I never got 'high'. I guess that's the way they're supposed to work.

Once the pain was better, I didn't want or need the medication.
It sounds as if you really need good pain management and that you've already proven to yourself that without any medication at the moment, the pain is making you miserable, and that's no way to live.
I wish you all the best and pray that your back heals soon, or at least that you can get some real relief from it while you are waiting for it to resolve.
Hugs,
Nellie
