hi,looking for info again ratch,daughter was on 16mg of subutex for about 8 weeksthen ater reading your thread she decided to taper as she is starting uni again in 2weeks,she has been reducing 2mg per fortnight and went down to 2mg last week,now on 1.6mg,and going to reduce .4mg weekly,anyway she has bad w/d,just like the rattle she had coming off heroin,flu like symptoms,this is for me not for her,could it be this bad, im frightened she is using,if she is its only occasionaly as i test her every week,only a fellow user has joined her n/a an shes not clean yet and they ae getting quite friendly,this is a shortened version my typing not the best,welcome any input,sadmum

Sadmum,
If she is using again or thinking about using, perhaps she should stay on the sub longer. Using Heroin and all the dangers that entails vs. the potential for a long recovery period from the sub at a later date should not be a deciding factor. I am really glad you had a chance to read that post, but in your daughters case as I have previously mentioned... she may need some serious clean-time under her belt and working a strong program before she even conciders stopping the sub. If she still decides to go through with the taper, tell her to up the dose until she feels more comfortable and start dropping down slower.. It usually takes 3 days to feel a reduction due to th e37 hour halflife.
