What does it take?

What does it take for someone to realise drugs are no good and they should give them up?

I thought my gf may have realised this last weekend when she slashed her wrists and then i threatened to break up with her. I stayed with her because she promised to try her hardest but now she is just pushing me away again and tells me she wants the drugs.

So I broke up with her last nite. This time for real telling her to have a nice life and me walking off into the sunset...

But will that be enough to trigger something in her mind or will she just go back to the drugs and I can expect a call from her parents in a few weeks with funeral details?

Kind regards.

Ben

Re: What does it take?

Depends Ben wether she wants drugs more than you, dont take that personally, addicts put drugs at the top of the list many times before the penny drops,I have doubts because it was not her choice to quit but you giving her an ultimatum, for what its worth you did the right thing, but maybe if you see a future with this girl drug free you could maybe have added-get in touch when you are ready to be clean and i will support you-support goes a long way in recovering addicts stay clean, good luck, sadmum

Re: What does it take?

What drugs is she on? Some are very scary at the thought of stopping them. She might wake up from this good luck Kim

Re: What does it take?

cocaine, ecstacy, alcohol, then there is her medication for bipolar... zyprexa, eppillim, and something else plus she will sometimes use vallium and zannex.

was clean for the 3 months she was with me until 2 weeks ago. I told her i would support her in a letter i wrote her 2 weeks ago when i first went to break up with her.

Re: What does it take?

You made the right move. Good for you, it shows self-will. Your leaving her was the best thing for you and her. She doesn't care for you, anybody or anything in life as long as she is on the drugs. Join a singles club and forget her. You will be glad you did!
