Bummed out.

Just seems like most of my online buddies are either disappearing or using agian. This sucks. I hate to read that someone is EXCITED that they are using hydro or opiates again. That bums me out. I am sorry if I offend anyone, but I thought we were all addicts on here and we are suppose to be abstinent from substance. I know that relapse is common, but I feel your goal on here is to always trying to stop, not trying to use again. Just had to get that off my chest. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ANYONE inparticular, just seems that is the way the board had shifted.

Re: Bummed out.

Hello Meddguy

Yes, the board does shift and often. Ebb and flow of strangers meeting for periods of time and things change quickly, sometimes good and sometimes bad. But everything also comes full circle over and over. I care about the board a great deal, but after vtime it is like living with a family. Good days and bad. I have learned to walk away or take a time out when I feel bummed or aggravted by the board. Believe me, it took a lot of lessons to do this and even now I fail sometimes to do what is best... a mini vacation. Smiles.

When you feel the negative on the board, understand it is just human behavior. We all are striving to be better people and sometimes we are and sometimes we are not. Sometimes we whine and moan and sometimes we shout, "Victory."

Hope you shout victory today

Re: Bummed out.

Hey Medguy:
Sweetie don't be discouraged I am in a day group and 5 people I'm in group with have went out. Talk about being bummed OMG. I had a guy with 157 days go out and I said to another friend in program if he went out with that much time what makes me think I can make it. But, I tt my sponsor and she said it happens hang around long enough and you will see people go out BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TOO. I took that to heart and today I woke up happy thinking just for today I don't have to use. Maybe its something in the air I'm not gonna stop breathing I'm just gonna ask my higher power to help me. I want you to know you have helped me today with your post its not just people around me its all over. Maybe this is our message to stay close to these boards and stay Clean and Sober.

Stay strong,
Lori

Re: Bummed out.

Hi Meddguy,

In my experience in recovery, it is very true that people come and go. I can understand that you are upset in hearing others talk about useing. I have been around recovery for 7 years. I had a 60 day relapse in there and I am coming up on 3 years in September. What I have seen is when people stop doing the things they need to do to stay clean and sober then tey go away. Some are dry, some use again and even some die. This doesn't mean that this will happen to you. In your other posts you sound like you are really getting it. You go to meeting and you talk to people. Hold on to that. Those things are some of the tools to stay in recovery. We get to stay here if we do the work on ourselves. It is a beautiful thing that we have! Pleas try and remember what you are grateful for today and it may help to perk up your emotions today. Hang in there you are doing a good job!!! We all just have today!!
Chrissy
