I am not saying that I have all the answers or a miracle solution to this thing we call addiction, for I don't.
I'm not going to tell you that once a person is addicted to alcohol or drugs, that it is easy to refrain from doing so, for it isn't.
The reason I am here is because I care about each and every one of you.
I don't have to know you to feel that you are going through a rough time;it is etched in our existence.
I'm not a public service announcement, nor the President of some club but when it came to drugs and alcahol, I was in no uncertain terms, a client.
I am but one person who is issuing a challenge.
I challenge you to challenge yourself...............
Challenge you to take a look at that substance and all the pain and misery it has caused; all the lives it has affected and infected.
Challenge you to give yourself a chance; not because of a friend, relative or loved one but because you know, deep down, that there is a better way of living out there with your name on it.
Challenge you to remember a time that life was different.
Challenge you to look back at that time and relish in those memories and emotions associated with them;as far as you can remember (take a while).
Challenge you to now look at that substance as the thing that is preventing you from adding to those memories.
Challenge you to view this wolf in sheep's clothing as it is.
Challenge you to say that it is not mind over matter but your mind that matters, which each of us needs to keep in mind.
Challenge you not to be a stereotype but to turn on that stereo, put that substance down and type.
Challenge you to be, not to exist.
Challenge you to open your mind but to also mind what you open.
If you accept this challenge I can only promise you one thing:
You will never be the same again.
[If you are not ready for such a challenge, i fully respect that but just know that it is here; if and when you need.]
