Smile Totally off oxycontin - how long does headaches/leg cramps last?

Hi - today begins my 4th day totally off oxycontin. How long do the withdrawal symptoms usually last? My only problems are headaches & leg pains/cramps in my calves. Any insight appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Lisa...
I am 11 days off oxy and from my experience it should only last a day or two more. Are you drinking lots of fluids? I know its hard to stomach anything at first but it does help keeping hydrated! Good luck to you Mo

Re: Totally off oxycontin - how long does headaches/leg cramps last?

The length of the withdrawals really depends on how much you were taking. I've been through various degrees of withdrawals. There was a time when I was only taking Percocets, and the withdrawals were shortlived. Of course with Oxycontin, it's a whole new ball game. If you were only taking say one or two 40s per day, the withdrawals will probably last 3-5 days. At one time I was taking 5 or 6 40s per day......Now the w/d's from that would last over a week. I've been fighting opiate addiction for 6 years now. I think that I may have found my savior with Suboxone. I've been on them for 4 days now. I take one little 8mg pill in the morning and there are no withdrawals or craving for the entire day.

I'm hoping for good results. I HATE being dependant on oxycontin!

what relieves headaches?

One more question - do you have any suggestions what to take for the headaches? I'm on day 9 off oxycontin now, but the headaches are continuing. Extra-strength tylenol just isn't helping at all.

Thanks again for any ideas!

I can't take NSAIDS due to Crohn's disease. I've also tried naproxen, but not much headache relief with that product either!

Re: Totally off oxycontin - how long does headaches/leg cramps last?

im not sure if it would be appropriate or not, but i am on suboxone and get many headaches, debilitating headaches. i am scheduled to see a neurologist tomorrow, but in the meantime, my pcp presribed me zomig, for migraines, and they seem to take the edge off. maybe this could be an option for you?

good luck, and congratulations on your success with coming off the evil drug !!!!

Re: Totally off oxycontin - how long does headaches/leg cramps last?

I am 1 week off 320mg/day habit. I can relate, I am taking ibuprophen, and cymbalta, and is helping pain and headaches. For my restless leg and muscle spasm I have valium if needed, but am biting bullet cause dont want no more addictions. Try to stay hydrated even if not thirsty is my best advise. Good luck!
