| | Tapering Off Oxycodone with Acupuncture, Tramadol
I've battled chronic back pain for 3 years and have been on Oxycodone for 9 months. I just had posterior lumbar fusion surgery which I think is going to work. I am so tired of being physically dependent on Oxycodone that I talked to my doctor yesterday about getting off of it. He was very supportive and understanding and advised me to taper off slowly and that I might need to see a drug management place for help. Naturally I still have pain, so he prescribed me Tramadol, which is a non-narcotic. So far, the Tramadol has helped me taper off the Oxycodone without too many withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, nausea).
I am going to try acupuncture to help with this addiction. Has anyone tried it? Was it successful? I am worried that my continuing pain will lead me back to Oxycodone and am hoping acupuncture will help relieve both my pain and my physical addiction to Oxycodone.
