3 Weeks clean....

I have not had any narcotics in 3 weeks and I can't believe it. The main thing I have enjoyed is leaving the house without planning how many pills I may need---just the freedom of a normal person. I must admit, my stomach is still upset daily and hurts but I am hoping that is due to years of narcotics and it is regulating itself. I used on and off for the past 10 years and I cannot bear living like that ever again.

Re: 3 Weeks clean....

Congratulations Lisa. Three weeks is a long time (seems like forever when you are going thru the stages of withdrawal). It seems to take a long time to feel "Normal" again. I'm 6 weeks clean and had a major depression after going off hydrocodone. It's taken about 3 weeks of trying different anti-depressants to get me feeling somewhat normal on Lexapro the past few days. They all seem to have some kind of nasty side affect.
It is great not worring about how you're going to get more of your drug of choice. In that regard, you feel free of the prison that kept you using for so long. Best wishes and keep up the good work and wonderful attitude!

Re: 3 Weeks clean....

Lisa --CONGRATS -- just remember that you are in the "high" phase of recovery. Its the next few weeks that I still cant figure out. I get to about 1 month and Bang I start to think again and I get myself back into trouble. Its been 5 years of that crap. So, breath, smile and relax, BUT be very weary about the FACT that u r about to enter the hardest part. Go to a meeting, read, stay focused, b/c if you dont, the hard fact is that you will fail. I envy were u R right now. Be happy and start ur new life.
