I do not know alot of information on drugs and i suspect that my son is possibly using marijuana and i was just wondering how detection through the system works. Hes about 6 foot and weighs bout 155 pounds with very low fat content, i was told being this, marijuana can move through the system quickly especially if the user exercises (which he does about every other day or so) and the drug is smoked through a pipe instead of in a joint.
So i guess my true question is, is this information true and if so how quickly can it leave the system so i will know the right time to test him and caught before he is tested @ his security sensitive job
I was the urinalysis coordinator for my command when I was in the Navy.
If your son uses it once in a great while, it'll stay in his system about 2-4 days. If he uses it often, it can stay in his system up to 3 MONTHS. (this is doing a urine test - I don't know if tested with hair, or blood.)
Hope this helps - your friendly neighborhood drug store sells home urine tests for about $25 and you'll know in about 15 minutes.
If he is a regular smoker, it will show up in a urine test for 30 days. If he's a once or twice a month type user it will clear his system faster.
You can buy drug testing kits at many drugstores, that will check for many different drugs too. if he's smoking pot he may be trying other things, but many of them do leave the system very quickly....2-4 days.
From what I have read it can stay in the system for a duration of 2 weeks to 30 days after use. I would assume that it depends on the amount and frequency of use. Is there a reason you suspect him of doing this? There are some pretty obvious signs of use too.

When i was in rehab i tested positive on the p1ss test for 7 weeks after using.
after 5 weeks i had to do mouth swabs too that i think detect for about a week.
