cold feet...?

I hope this weekend went well for everyone. I myself had a great time. A sober time.... something I can't say I've had on many holidays.
I have a question ..I've been noticing since not using my feet are getting cold and sometimes they turn purple. This was never a problem before mainlining. I know I'm getting older but poor circulation at 39? It has to have something to do with my drug abuse. Anyone with some feedback? Thanks in advance and I hope you're all doing well.

Re: cold feet...?

I can't speak to them turning purple, but the coldness could be a sign of neurapathy. Drug use causes nerve damage. Depending on how long you were using, you may have damaged nerves in your toes..."alcoholic neurapathy". You can read up about it on the internet.

Re: cold feet...?

Hello C,

Have you been checked for peripheral vascular disease?

The most common cause is diabetes but is not exclusive to this condition.

Take care.

Re: cold feet...?

Hi cakes - iv drug abuse can cause some problems with circulation i think - i remember a friend getting thrombosis from too many bad hits. Im not saying thats what you have - just that it does affect your blood stream sometimes. im sure if your doc gives you the all clear then it'll be fine - just eat plenty of garlic & things that are good for the blood. thats an order

keep on keepin on

Re: cold feet...?

Hi.

Yeah. During detox, I had cold feet that would turn kind of purplish. My dad had the same symptom when he suffered with congestive heart failure. It scared me bad enough to go see the doc.

My doctor told me that detox is hard on the ticker. He said I would be fine and it would go away in time. It did.

It could be that the heart does not beat efficently because the body wants the drugs? Hands and feet are effected first by heart failure (I guess it is built into the body to pass on the lack of circulation to the limbs before the organs). I believe that my ticker did have trouble with detox. There is no way I could feel that horrible without it being hard on my heart.

No more cold feet for me. I have been clean for quite some time, and my feet (and heart) are OK. My wife has cold feet all of the time, but she has low blood pressure.
