Difficult getting off subutex

<ref: http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=606046>

How are you doing? Do you still remember me. i am still on 4mg subutex and can not seem to get off!! I think I must just stay on it forever! I think about it everyday and wish it will just all be gone. I know exactly how you feel and I was only on day 5. My family was very disappointed in me, it just added to the guilt.

Re: Difficult getting off subutex

Well, if you do stay on it for ever, and it helps you stay clean, whats the problem

Nobody would thing anything bad of you if you needed to take insulin, or blood preasure pills, or arthritis medication for ever.

If you do realy want to get of, cut it back slowly.... nail clippers can be used to trip a bit off of the pill, then the next day, a bit more, and so on, until after 3 weeks or so, you arnt taking anything.

But dont fel bad taking it, it is a medicine, the same as any other.

Re: Difficult getting off subutex

My family played such a guilt trip on me for taking this 'herion" that I started really to believe them and I can not discuss it with them anymore, because they freak out.

Re: Difficult getting off subutex

Why do they need to know?

If you were taking a tylenol, or on the pill, your whole family wouldnt need to know, this is no different.

Wait until you fel ready, and reduce the dose a fraction at a time, taper off over a month or so, and you will be fine

Re: Difficult getting off subutex

Hey Zelda.. don't feel guilty for taking this and trying to better yourself!! They do not understand anything about what you have went through.. but there are people on here that do.. including me.. Stay positive and take aussie's advice. Just taper very slowly. That's the trick here.. I've come to realize that.. and exercise. As much as I hate it. lol Hang in there, and keep posting. We're here for you!!!

Thoughts and Prayers,
