Re: how do i get off subutex

The first time I stopped the suboxone, I had been on it about 4 months at 24mgs daily. I stopped cold turkey and thought I would die. I lost over40 pounds because I couldn't eat,and diarhea. It was torture. I stopped the sub in July and was still sick 2 months later. I devoloped gall stones from the lack of food, involuntary fasting the doctor said and started taking LARGE amounts of oxycodone. Of course I felt better then but then went through w/d again trying to come off those. It's such a viscious cicle. Now I'm back on sub for the 3rd time and trying to taper off instead of cold turkey. I hear this is the only way to go,if possible. The doctors tell me it won't kill you,you just have to watch your fluids and not become dehydrated. I wish you lots of luck.

it totally depends on how long you've been on sub. less than a month--it shouldn't be too bad--maybe a week of feeling bad. it goes downhill from there! how long have you been on sub and what dose?

Re: how do i get off subutex

Depends how long you have been on the damn stuff. If you have been on it for anything longer than six months then I suggest you start very very slowley.
I went into rehab to come of it three years ago when it was relatively "new" in the market. They gave me Dihydrocodeine for three days and that was it. I went through hell. I kept telling them that I was in pain but they accused me of trying to manipulate them to get a fix. I didn't believe it myself so I suffered on for three months until I just couldn't handle and went back on heroin. But now everyone agrees that it is much tougher than coming off heroin. This might sound contraversial but I would go bach on a natural opiate first for a good six months and then try coming off that.
Subutex hell is one thing I am not going to go through again. I was so depressed that I tried to commit suicide, twice.
In the end I used a chinese remedy which has been around for 150 years to come off opium with no complication. In fact it was so painless that I went back on heroin again knowing that I could always come off it easily. I did that a few times until I got fed up with all the hassel of being an adict. Again I used the chinese herbs and came off for good. It is not a long time ago and I can't say that I won't ever use again but so far so good. A lot of it is in your head. Once you know you can do without it becomes less important. I don't know if it works for this synthetic stuff but it does work with heroin. The synthetic opiates are supposed to have less severe withdrawal (except subutex) but last a lot longer.
