Yesterday I hit my 19 month mark clean from a horrid 4 year opiate addiction and I feel compelled to write this so I can show people that it is possible to get off that poison. I was taking whatever opiate I could in order to just be "well" and make it through the day. I would have my husband drive me to hospitals all over because I was eventually red flagged at the one in my town. Looking back at the shell of a person I was makes me that much more grateful for the woman I am today. In all honesty, if I could kick a 250mg Oxy habit then any of you can. Remember, if you are currently in withdrawals, it is only a feeling and it will pass. I could never do cold turkey, I tried many times and lasted 5 days at the most. I finally turned to Suboxone and found an amazing dr who believed in me and here I am today. It is still hard and I did intensive outpatient treatment along with NA and continue to go to meetings and surround myself with others in recovery living a sober life. Some may not agree with the use of Suboxone, but it saved my life. Sorry for the rant. If anyone wants to talk, I sm always here. Lindsay
Congrats!!! 5 and a half months for me..... Cocaine, heroin, oxys, MDMA and July 7th was my last day......cold turkey then methadone treatment until now so not quite cold turkey....damn. I gotta re think this.
I've done the methadone thing in the past but it was to bridge the withdrawls from the heroin and oxys when I couldnt score. Now, its methdone only. Wish |I tried suboxone but whatever it takes to keep me off the street drugs.
