Reading has helped me stay sober, not just recovery-centric stuff like 12 step lit & spiritual books like Pema Chodron & Eckhart Tolle...
I'm always interested in great novels/fiction dealing with alcoholism & addiction - stuff that's really well done. For me, it helps me stay sober, reminds me where I've been, don't want to go...
These are some of my tippedy-top favorites:
Jesus' Son, Denis Johnson (the movie rocks too!)
Under the Volcano, Malcolm Lowry
A Million Little Pieces, James Frey (because thanks to Oprah, we all know much of it is fiction, haha)
Many of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories...
Sherry & Narcotics, Nina-Marie Gardner (its new, just came out & awesome!)
I know there's more - what have you guys read/heard of?
