Question Anyone had Suboxone covered by Kaiser Ins in PDX? Oxy addict in need of help!

I am researching my options for Opiate Treatment Programs (OTP). In doing so I have found that Suboxone seems to be my best option at this point. Am currently taking 10-20 5mg Oxycodone every day. Ok, more like 20+ pills a day. I live in Or, and have Kaiser Permanente for insurance.

how did you find your Doctor? How much out of pocket cost was there for your Suboxone Prescription and Doctor visit costs? Any information regarding Kaiser and Suboxone treatment would be greatly appreciated. I am about to "take the leap" and get some help but have so many questions about options, medications, withdrawals, insurance, how to find a Doctor. I want to run out of questions (excuses) so I can finally go get some help. Thank you for any info, personal experience stories or encouraging words you can offer.

KJ

Re: Anyone had Suboxone covered by Kaiser Ins in PDX? Oxy addict in need of help!

KJ42- My daughter is a heroin addict and is covered by Kaiser. She is being treated at the Interstate addiction medicine department. Suboxone is prescribed and covered. We pay $15 per prescription and $10 for each counselor and Dr. appointments. We have found that Kaiser is very generous and willing to help and have many groups, etc. Hope this helps you to seek treatment. Good luck to you.

So... basically, what you are saying is... STOP HESITATING! You have insurance that supports you, just go for it! Thanks so much. Today, you have helped more than your daughter! I hope she is successful in her recovery! Thank you...

Oh Calee, Thank you so much! I started on a Suboxone Forum and ended up here because people only posted once a week or so. This is EXACTLY the info I needed to get started. Thanks again. Please, let me know how your daughter is doing! Maybe, we can help each other..

Re: Anyone had Suboxone covered by Kaiser Ins in PDX? Oxy addict in need of help!

Hi KJ welcome to the board, you are not on alot of oxy's, if you go the sub program do a short quick taper, unless you want to continue to use drugs.
Don't take more than 4mg a day for less than 2 weeks or you will be addicted to the suboxone. I was on oxy 30mg 6x a day for a bad back, 4 herniated discs. My sub MD started me at 32mg, way to high, I did not research suboxone, so I just traded addiction. Subs are very powerful and addicting. The MD won't tell you alot, you need to research the med before you jump in. It would be easier for you to taper down your oxy dose, if your able to control the amount you take. Some can not, so subs help. Subs will take the WD away, but I believe you can do this on your own if you are determined. It has taken me 8 months to get down to 10mg.
Everyone is different and has different experiences, so this IMO and experience.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey to sobriety.
Peace
Gracie
