It can be done but not alone
I have taken fiorinal or fioricet for over thirty years. The most I was taking at any point was 12-14. It was controlling my life and I knew I had to get help. I found a psychiatrist who is a pharmacologist and he has been the so wonderful. Iwas so ashamed and afraid, but he has made it easier. I got down to eight a day before I saw him for the first time, and he has slowly helped me reduce and I am now taking four. (I have seen him for three months, once a week at first, and now every two weeks) He prescribed an anti anxiety medication (clonazepam 0.5 mg) I take it with Excedrin Migraine, and it really words. The toughest problem for me had been waking up with headaches(rebound) twice a night...especially around 4 a.m. He prescribedAmitriptyline for night time and it helps prevent headaches and I don't wake up. I am thrilled to be down to four, and when I see him next week it will be three, and so on. I NEVER thought I could do it, but with a patient, understanding doctor it is very possible. I no longer fear leaving the house without fioricet, and don't worry about my next refill. Get help. I tried on my own hundreds of times. This is the first time I have felt success.
