Hello Wendy
NA is a 12 step program,as is CA(cocaine anonymous) and AA.
You don't necessarily have to believe in a Higher Power to attend or be accepted into their programs.
The basic premise is this:"That you admit(to yourself) you are a substance abuser and that you are powerless over it.
That your life,(either heavily or slightly) has become unmanageable as a result of using.
You should be ready to admit that you are powerless over said substance.
The only admission for membership is a desire stop using(this is where inventory of self comes in).
You can still attend any of the aforementioned groups because there's a lot to be learned and even gained(knowledge-wise) in the rooms.
I'm glad that you're at least considering it.
Try it;you might like it.
Take from the meeting that which pertains to you or that is relatable and the rest, simply discard.
You may even catch a surreal meeting in which the speaker seems to be telling your story;having experienced a lot of what you may have been through(I say this from personal experience).
Respectfully
Phoenix
