I've been taking methadone for about 4 years now. I knew about the rapid detox
for heroin from watching talk shows but wasn't sure if they offered it for methadone users and when I came across this horrifying thread about the women prostitute who was on heroin and went through that treatment only to have waken up in the middle of it and suffered so tremendously it literally scared me to pieces. The sad thing is when you have an addiction, most people including the police, doctors (regular doctors) and basically most everyone treat you like you are nothing but a low life drug addict. I've been through it many times. Last year I had an accident and was out of town so had to go to the hospital an hour in a half away. I was only visiting a friend. I told the doctor about my methadone treatment and that I had to be there the next day for my does and I had been held at the hospital all night till morning. I asked her, begged her if they could call my doctor and get my dose that morning there rather than having to drive all the way back to la after I just had stitches and been up all night long. After a lot of begging she finally agreed reluctantly. I was so tired and relieved only to ask her what was taking so long about an hour and a half later she than told me I'm sorry but I want nothing to do with supplying someone with drugs. I ended up still having to drive to la. There was no understanding in this persons heart, no empathy, no nothing. She was cold as ice.
