While awaiting a diagnosis (next dr. apt. Friday, July 16th), I was wondering if there are over-the-counter meds that you have found are NOT a good idea to take with Addison's? Are there others (even vitamins or minerals) you feel give you an
extra boost of energy and don't go against your regular meds or the disease itself ? Last night I gave my son some Benedryl, as he looked more tired than usual, yet claimed he was wide awake (yawning all the while). He has a strange complexity of being exhausted, and yet not being able to fall asleep until around 3:00 a.m. Says whatever time he hits the sheets, he doesn't actually fall asleep until 3:00 a.m. Was almost afraid to give him anything, yet afraid NOT to, if you understand. Sometimes he looks so frail I just wish I could give him SOMETHING to boost him a bit, yet don't want to give him the wrong thing. He wants energy drinks once a day, but I tell him if he
has one, he has to promise to drink plenty of Gatorade and/or water afterward. I hate to even let him
have the energy drinks (with caffeine in them) but he thinks they at least make him FEEL more wide awake and energetic for a while. Any input as to substances (nutritional or medicinal that do harm or good?). Thanks! ~
