your sons dr should be able to give you an idea. Since its autoimmune, which means that your body essentially attacks its own cells, I would think it could take a long time for a person to know they have it. I started getting symptoms pretty abruptly, but Im not sure how or for how long the disease progressed before then. Again, I would ask your dr. And although they dont really know what causes autoimmune disorders, there is a genetic component, and its usually triggered by something else, which could have been his mono. Good luck with your son. Like you said, if its just Addison's, he'll live a totally normal, healthy life.
