Hi there!
My future daughter - in - law has addisons. She was diagnosed not too many years ago and she is 36 now. I don't want to pry and bother her for the details, but I am totally unfamiliar with this desease. Can anyone fill me in with a general overview and prognosis?
Thanks in advance.
Debby
As long as she takes the prescribed steroids she will be fine. If she has any trauma or illness that will dehydrate her (diarrhea and/or vomiting) she will need higher doses of the steroids and may need to go an ER. She should wear a medical Id bracelet indicating she has adrenal insufficiency (generic description for Addisons) so that if she's ever taken to an ER unconscious they will know what to do to maintain her blood pressure.
