extra cortisol with sex

I have never read anything here about sexual ability/energy with Addison's Disease... but I am wondering if anyone else needs extra cortisol when sexually active? May sound crazy, but I've almost been in crisis mode after sex.. i guess i need to limit sexual activity, but it's such a vital part of life and can be so healing too... just don't want it to kill me.

Thought i would see if anyone else has/had similar experience and if you increase your med.

Sincerely,
Mollie

Smile Re: extra cortisol with sex

I am a male, so i don't know if this will work for you, but I have found that Sulbutiamine increases both my sex drive and my recovery time. Some Addisonians have said it helps them a lot with their fatigue in general... but I don't know how it affects women. i would be so curious to know how you respond to it if you try it. since you live in San Jose i imagine there are plenty of well stocked health food and vitamin stores where you can find it. it is a derivative of B-1, so it is pretty harmless as far as side effects go. I say it's worth a try!
Oh, and DHEA may help also. It is more effective in women than in men. DHEA is a hormone which the adrenals produce more of than any other hormone. But it is not an essential hormone and that is why most Addisonians take take it. It MIGHT also help. but be careful because it increases fertility!
These are some suggestions that are alternatives to taking more Hydrocortisone. In combination, and also with some B-12, you might turn into a sex machine!!!
Good luck.

i am also a male. sex drained me until. ginseng. i take it as a supplement now. nice overall results not just with sex but everything. dhea mixed results but usually nothing. horney goat weed helps too. sex is tricky with addisons but with the right supplements it can be beneficial.
