Can anyone help please?
Hi sorry for the sudden and dramatic introduction..
I live a long way from my family. Have always known my sister-in-law was an Addisons carrier and had passed the illness onto one of my nephews.
He had quite a few bouts of poorly health before it was diagnosed, then when he went on to steroids he finished college and went travelling.
I last saw him two years ago and his legs seemed "odd" in that they didn't seem to be functioning properly? I spoke to my brother about it, he disagreed.
In the mean time both his cousins died from a direct result of the illness.
Last night I found out since returning from travelling my nephew has not worked. become a recluse, refuses to collect any benefits whatsoever, so relies wholly on my brother ( he's a binman) for financial help.
The neighbour who contacted me has concerns he is emotionally abusing my brother and sister in law. Is this something that could be caused by the illness? I have doubts he has seen a GP for sometime, so would worry his meds are correct.
I plan to ring the GP depending on any replies/ advice I hope to recieve from here..
Sorry to be so "full on" but I'm sure you can understand my concerns.
Oh I should mention, on any occasion I have tried to talk to my nephew about his illness he refuses to discuss/accept. He became quite angry last time.
ps my knowledge of the illness is very minimal.
