My GP is referring me to a Gynecologist with suspicions of me going through perimenopause. I'm only 32. I'm wondering if anyone was misdiagnosed with this, but it was actually Addison's. My symptoms come and go in "flares". They are: fatigue, hot flashes, heart palpitations, vertigo, small-medium blotchy dark patches under eyes, forehead, knees, ankles and underarm, aching joints & muscles, breast pain, "greasy" bowels and foggy brained. My hair has gone from straight to curly (at the roots) and the palms of my hands (from the pads at the base up the outside to the pinky finger) are always red.
I live in Canada, so I have to take whatever doctor I can get. She thinks all these things are "in my head". She has referred me to the Gyn, but it could be months or even a year or more before I can get in to see her. They triage the waiting list and if my GP's referral made me out to be a hypocrondiac, then it looks like I'm in for a long haul of no one helping me. I'm a mother of 2 small boys, I'm active, healthy weight, eat healthy (most of the time
) and I exercise when I can. I want to be able to pick up my 2 year old without breaking into a drenching sweat! Could it really just be perimenopause at 32?! Can anyone tell me if my symptoms sounds like theirs before their own diagnoses with Addison's?
