ACTH stim test versus saliva test

My doctor wants to run an ACTH stim test on me. I am already on Synthroid, and although my numbers on thyroid function have improved dramatically, I still feel very terrible fatigue, emotional issues, intolerance to cold, and a host of other issues. I really want to get to the bottom of my present ailing state, but have been told that the stim test does not do well to measure general adrenal function, but only measures whether I have severely damaged adrenal function, or, if it is my pituitary that is not releasing the necessary ACTH.
I am not sure whom to ask about this ACTH issue, however, it seems quite clear that a stim test will only address severe adrenal issues, not adrenal fatigue. Should I go through the stim test, anyway, to rule out any pituitary issue? I am tired of being tired!
