Life Extension Daily reported an study out of UCLA that in mouse studies using an experimental cancer drug ''Farnesyltransferase inhibitor'' (FTI) that slowed Progeria in these animals. So far this is the only compound ever to slow aging in this disease. The reason i report this is that Progeria and normal aging share genetical traits so science is inching closer to the day that treatments for aging may be a possibility....

I am hopeful for anyone that needs a new drug...and please don't let my opinion hurt your feelings. But I am so sensitive to the issue of testing meds on animals. I was just this week reading about a study using mice where they got the mice "into a state of despair" to try an antidepressant on them to see how it works. To me that is cruel, to put an innocent animal into a state of despair. Why not test the drug on humans who can consent? Oh well, enough of my ranting. We all take meds and need them. We are lucky to have them.
