I am 43 and live in florida. I have some brown spots on my arms, face and neck. I am being more consistant about applying sun block but I was wondering if self tanners would make the spots darker or would they blend in as my skin got darker from the self tanners.
Also do self tanners bring out age spots as the sun does? I would love to use the daily lotions that include a tanner to give me some color but I want my skin clear of spots.
Thanks for any response

GREAT QUESTION! Yes, yes, yes. Self tanners (not with the first application) do make age spots darker and make them stand out. I was so disappointed after using one for a few days. I looked in the mirror and wow; my 2 age spots on my face were almost dark brown as were the ones on my hands!
My daughter freaked as soon as I opened the door!
Now I don't know what to do since I want a spray tan b4 we go to florida in february.
Hey, you can use self-tanner and not get age spots darker! Its a little more trouble. Just like hands, elbows knees, when I apply the tanner, I wipe those areas off when I'm done. Now, I take a Q-tip moistened with water and wipe off each age spot (at least the obvious ones). It works fine, then they do blend in. Happy "tanning".
