You should go check it out because it could be a sign of blood poisioning. Maybe you have an infection in your gums that got into your blood stream.
It will travel so please get help immediately.

My Mom was sewing with a machine one day and the sewing needle pierced her thumb. She thought she took care of it only to have blood poisioning start travelling up her arm. She ended up having her thumb lanced open and all the infection drained. this was in 1956 so now they'd just give you antibiotics
