getting old and trying to enjoy it

I am 75 yrs old gone thru cancer, heart attack, knee surgery, have anixity
and bad panic attacks. They told me I have advanced osteoporosis and scoliosis which I knew it was coming. When you get cancer and don't take chemo they will put you one a pill to drain your estrogen. Well that happen
8 yrs ago, after 5 years I still couldn't take estrogen because of the type of cancer. So as you can see my body kinda feels dead. Remember while you
are young enough to help your bodies for the future, do the best to remember that you only have a body and you can do harm to it not meaning too but you pay for it later In life. I couldn't help having cancer or a heart attack but I could have done a better job with my body. Eat better-----exercise more. I still at 75 have panic attacks, take Xanax and don't think
I could have made it without it. When I started the panic attack they didn't have much to choose from and I made it thru. Have used Xanax about 20 yrs. I found out from a really good Doctor 2 times to always remember for me. 1. If I ever feel like I can't take it anymore with life---take gabatentin 100mg. 2. Don't ever take Ambian pill. (hope I spell these right) Hope I might be able to reach you younger ladies who will have time to keep your bodies healthy for old age. nannywiz

Re: getting old and trying to enjoy it

Hi Nannywiz...I hear you...Aging is not fun, but then you try and think of someone who has it worse than you do...This is my best remedy when I have a bad knee day or the back acts up...Sometimes I sit back and wonder how I ever got to this age in life...Kind of laugh at the world..

When I was young I used to think that all older people in my age bracket would be kind of on the senile side...Yet, now I find that my mind is more active than it has ever been...When you come down to it as long as you and I have brain function and can smile at the wonderful memories that we have, then honey we have made it....Life is good...My best to you....ILD.....

Re: getting old and trying to enjoy it

You are such one strong woman to have survived all those pain. You are very right about taking care of the body as early as now rather than regret in the future.

Thumbs up Re: getting old and trying to enjoy it

It's funny when you look back over your life ----- I thought having my knee replaced, had a heart attack, breast cancer, and some more but they were little things. Well NOW I am nursing a "BROKE HIP". Not funny at all but I did survive and really didn't have a lot of pain. My husband was there with me and my family come on weekends. I am not laughing but I know it could have been worse. God does takes are of you----even us "old kolks" I am 75 1/2. God Bless of you you. Nannywiz9612

Hi again: Since I wrote my original post my husband had very serious heart problems...This came out of the blue...Within 11 days he was in the emergency room and admitted for three days and then readmitted for another three days...The last time they put in a Pacemaker...

We have always enjoyed life, but it is the unexpected that really can awaken you to your age...He is 77 and I am 76....I sent you my best wishes...ILD....
