Question - Allergies Message Board

I was just tested for allergies and no surprise I am allergic to just about everything and will be starting allergy shots in a couple of weeks. I am also bothered by sinus problems and have been having alot of headaches lately above my eyes in the forehead area. What I want to know is if the allergy shots will eventually improve or help my sinuses any? Is seeing an allergist enough or should I see an ENT for my sinus problems?

Allergy shots helped my sinuses long term.

If you're in the middle of a sinus infection, the allergy shots won't clear it up, you still need antibiotics. It took almost a year for the allergy shots to work to the point that I stopped getting opportunistic infections. If you have chronic sinusitis, you'll probably need antibiotics continuously for a few months.

I am a long time sinus allergy sufferer, and allergy shots helped me immensely. What the shots will do is help you build up an immunity to whatever is causing your infections and allergy headaches. Eventually, your body will get used to that substance, and no longer think it is bad, and you will no longer get headaches from it. They will help your body become better able to fight off those nasty sinus infections, also. The thing with allergy shots is that for some people, including myself, they work really well while you are on them, and maybe for a few years after you stop them, but some people have to eventually go back on them. I'll probably be on them for the rest of my life. But hey, that is a small price to pay for being headache free!!
