You could also have something called blepharitis, which is not quite as serious as what Jay Tor mentioned. The symptoms for that also include red, puffy eyelids (or redness around the eyes) and mucous around the eyes, especially in the morning. Try also using some tear drops, and using a hot compress to get rid of the mucous. See an opthalmologist if it doesn't go away, because you might need an anti-biotic drop. Also, if you do have what Jay Tor was talking about, then you should DEFINITELY see an opthalmologist right away!
