Question Hormone Allergy

Hello,

I have been suffering with an allergy problem for the last eight years. I have been placed on several different medications including steroids for the hives and occasional breathing problems. I recently tested positive for progesterone allergy. The Drs', all six of them, are puzzled and really don't know what to do with me. I have been placed on Lupron, which is a drug to stop my body from producing hormones, since January.

I am looking for any suggestions or anyone else who has had or been treated for this problem. Please help me help my Drs'.

Thank you,

YIKES!!!

Lupron lowers estrogen levels, which can lead to a decrease in bone density. Decreased bone density could increase your risk of osteoporosis, or brittle bone disease, later in life. Consequently, the drug is not usually given for longer than 6 months at a time.

Is the Lupron actually working because it is intended to treat endometriosis, Lupron Depot 3.75 is also used before surgery along with iron to treat anemia caused by fibroids (tumors) in the uterus when iron alone is not effective. Lupron Depot 7.5 and Lupron Depot 22.5 (3-month) are used to treat prostate cancer. A pediatric form is used to treat early puberty. Some doctors also use Lupron as a treatment for infertility

I have never heard of them using it to treat a hormone allergy. It might be a cure worse than the disease. Lupron Is On OSHA's List Of Hazardous Drugs.

Your best bet on finding a physician who is experienced in treating progesterone allergies and autoimmune progesterone dermatitis is to contact the following organization and request a referral in your area:

American Academy of Environmental Medicine

Indsey,

Thank you for your reply. I can't tell you how many boards I have posted to and never recieved a response.

I am currently off the Lupron and was only on it for 3 months. My body however is just now starting to recooperate. My Drs' here are trying to help, but I don't feel like I'm getting much help now that we have figured out that I'm allergic to progesterone and estrogen possibly???

I truly appreciate the information you have sent and I am planning to start researching them today.

Thank you again, Thumble

I believe i may have this too. I am hoping you still look in on the board and give me an update on whats been happening and if they found a cure or not. If anyone else has Autoimmune progesterone dermatitis please reply. I am looking for as much info as possible on this. There isnt much out there for info. My dr's have all told me it's impossible to be allergic to your own hormones but i guess it's possible. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.
