Allergy Shots for only 2 years? - Allergies Message Board

My otologist that I see for Meniere's Disease has been allowing me to give me allergy shots for 3 years. He was surprised that it has gone on that long because normally he only has people do shots for only 2 years.

He had me stop my shots with my last vial, but I have lived an learned and put the vial in the fridge just in case. Sure enough, in about a month we were having bad allergies and I was sneezy up a storm and had a runny nose. I called him to see if I could start back up again.

I thought that perhaps he though people only needed them for 2 years to see if they were a cause of the vertigo, but when I asked him, he said that most people only need to take the shot for 2 years, and then they're fine for the rest of their life.

Has anybody heard of this?

I know young children that started taking allergy shots and had to continue on as adults.

If you have food allergies, it is possible to help your body learn tolerance over time. I did this with our children.
