Dizzy Episodes - Allergies Message Board

I need some help/advice about dizziness. I'm not sure if this is allergies or not, that is why I am posting here. I am cross-posting this in the Epilepsy forum as well.

I have been having lightheadedness/dizzy EPISODES and are not sure what they are. Here is an example...

Sitting at PC at work, I had a BAD dizziness episode. It felt like my whole head was zapped with electricity, then my eyes went slightly out of focus, then it felt like my head was being squeezed all around it, the top too. It lasted about 5-10 seconds. When it subsided, I got hot/flush and my forehead started to sweat somewhat. Then my heart started to pound. Then I felt pressure in my face, around my nose, cheeks, and forehead. Nothing went numb. I had no chest pain. I did not have trouble breathing. Checked pulse and it was about 84 per minute and I did not notice any out of rhythm beats.

Earlier, I was blowing out 3 extremely dusty PCs with a can of compressed air. I did this outside. I also ate 4 chocolate chip cookies about 10 minutes before it hit."

These are the kind of EPISODES I have. They never last more than 5-10 seconds - well, one time it did. I went to ER, they said Labrynthitis. My ENT said no way.

Could these be seizures or something non-life threatening (allergy/sinus). I have NEVER had these before in my life, and I have had allergies/sinus trouble all my life.

I have been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in Jan 2003 - makes me scared that Sarcoid has affected my heart (can cause life-threatening arrythmias)

I don't know what to do. I'm lost, confused, and very scared. Can anyone suggest anything?

I had similar episodes, I thought I had a brain tumor or something like that. My doctor sent me for brain MRI and CAT scan (after they ruled out inner ear related issues). Everything came back negative. I went to a shrink who thought I was having panic/anxiety attacks and put me on Celexa. The episodes dramatically decreased.

If it is allergies, that simply means that your sinuses could be draining which can cause you to be off balance. If you have anxiety, that could also be it most definatley! Anxiety attacks can come on at any given time and you can't control it without meds unless you can eliminate whatever stresses you out. Looking at a computer all day can give you a headache and make you dizzy also. Hope you figure out which way to go with this!

I have had similar problems. Dissyness, rapid heart beat, eyes going out of focus, ringing in my ears. I know I have allergies. I was taking psudonephine (sp) for some time along with ibuprofen. My arms also had pain. I got very concerned when my arms started hurting. My PC doctor said the are pain was tendinitus (sp). My ears had some fluid in them, which was the cause for the ringing. The rapid heartbeat was from the psudonephrine. (washed down with copius amounts of coffee) I went to an allergist for a brain/sinus scan which came up negative. I also had a hearing test. Which showed some small amount of hearing loss. I also had a allergy test. The allergy test showed I was allergic to everything. I have seasonal allergies bad, in every season. I started taking zertech (sp). My ears have stopped ringing for the most part as well as my rapid heartbeat. I have also been getting two shots allergy every other week (desensitize.)I also noticed I can now smell better. I only take the zertech when the sinuses get bad because zertec makes me real irritated/ anxious. I not fun to be around. I also redesigned my computer workstation with the help of a erogonomic consultant. The sore arms are gone. I found after talking around the office that many of my co-workers had similar problems. The company was inspired

to bring in the coonsultant. Hope this helps.
