allergic to sunscreen - help anybody??? - Allergies Message Board

I'm get rashes from the sun and from sunscreens. I've seen my dermatologist who was of no help (the sunscreen he prescribed gave me hives) and my Allergist who offered no assistance either. Anybody have any clue as to what I can do? Homeopathic remedies? I'm going to Thailand for 5 weeks so staying out of the sun is nearly impossible.

There are sunscreens out there that advertise PABA-free and various non-allergic ones. You should just get a variety and try them out. Neutrogena seems to be pretty good.

I have severe allergies to chemical sunscreen and have found Origins Beach Blanket all natural sunscreen. It's only SPF 15 so you have to re-apply often but it is composed of transparent titanium dioxide (more sheer than transparent), lavender, citronella and vitamin E and C.

It's a 4.2 oz bottle and if I remember correctly, it's between $12-18 a bottle. The Origins counter in any major dept. store should have it.
