Arrow Antihistamines & Depression

Has anyone noted any correlation between antihistamines and depression?

I have been on antihistamines forever (it seems)--mostly Allegra, but also Zyrtec and Claritin. For about a week I was able to go WITHOUT (any) and felt emotionally better, nearly instantly. Now, looking on the net, I see that there is some correlation.

Has anyone else notieced this?

Yes, If I take Benadryl for more than two or three days in a row I get depressed. When I stop it goes away overnight. I noticed this by accident several years ago.
I don't know why it does that.

I have been taking Anti-Histamines for years and can't say I have noticed this. In fact, I get depressed when i don't take them cos I my symptoms (allergic rashes/itching) go mad!! I have tried Clarityn, Zirtek, telfast the lot - I worry about the long term effects of taking any drug though. I find that Clarityn and Zirtek are pretty inoffensive and apart from the active ingredient shouldn't cause any reactions like depression - though who knows.

I noticed after taking allegra that I became quite depressed and I didn't know why. The only major change was that I had started taking allegra for allergies. Yes they worked wonders for my allergies but not for the side effects. The minute I stopped taking it I felt much better.
