Chronic Post Nasal Drip
Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed by an ear/eye specialist with Chronic Post-Nasal Drip. This has been on-going ever since I was a teen-ager. I am not sure if this has impact but I am 6'2" and overweight (more or less 280 pounds).
- Every morning, I have a stuffy nose that generally gets unclogged when I take a shower. The mucus released is always white, except obviously when I have my yearly cold, sometimes with blood.
- If I do not take a shower, I usually get sneezing/coughing fits in which the mucus is released.
- If I do not get my usual amount of sleep (~7 hours) and/or am stressed in the morning, I occasionally get an episode in I vomit the mucus from my lungs for 5 to 10 minutes. My throat and oesophagus are essentially scraped raw from trying to expel the mucus from my lungs(?).
- Varying amounts of saliva end up on my pillows every night.
- When the weather is cold or humid, my nose often gets clogged up and I have to blow my nose repeatedly even though I do not have any cold or specific allergies that I know of except my normal late summer/fall ones.
- The same symptoms (sneezing/coughing/congestion) occur whenever I exert myself physically.
I was prescribed a corticosteroid spray and told use it in my nasal cavities once or twice a day. I am not sure if my condition is caused by an allergy although the specialist seemed to think otherwise.
Using the spray really does not appeal to me so any alternatives would be welcomed. I would appreciate feedback anyone could provide on my situation.
Best regards,
Donal
